Cooking advice
A vegan pantry that makes quick meals possible
You do not need ten meat replacements in the cupboard. A functional plant-based pantry is built from flexible ingredients that work in soups, sauces, bowls and sandwiches.
What you need: Canned beans, lentils, pasta or rice, tomatoes, frozen vegetables, oil, tahini and spices.
How to do it
- Keep two kinds of legumes, one quick grain or pasta and at least two frozen vegetables.
- Choose a few strong flavour builders such as soy sauce, smoked paprika and lemon.
- Build meals around vegetables + legumes + a starchy base + a dressing.
- Use opened ingredients in the following meal before starting another package.
Common mistake
An expensive collection of speciality products cannot replace the basics of an actual meal.
Quick tip
Chickpeas, frozen spinach and tomato sauce make a reliable quick lunch.
